THE LOCAL GUIDE / MAPLE RIDGE

My hometown.
Your next favourite spot.

I was born and raised in Maple Ridge. These are the places I enjoy, the ones I recommend, and the ones I keep going back to.

IF YOU ASK ME WHERE TO START

Three I keep coming back to.

PULL UP A CHAIR

Food & drinks

From a quick chicken sandwich to an afternoon catching up with friends.

Mexican food · Downtown

Lupita Mexican Cantina

22529 Lougheed Highway

Lupita belongs on my Maple Ridge list, too. A local option when you’re in the mood for Mexican food.

Sushi · Downtown

Shinobi Sushi

11867 224 Street

My favourite sushi spot in Maple Ridge. There’s plenty of variety, the food is consistently good, and it has never let me down.

Chicken sandwiches

Brownies Chicken

22899 Dewdney Trunk Road

When I’m in the mood for a chicken sandwich, this is where I go. Sometimes you know exactly what you’re craving, and Brownies hits the spot.

Breakfast · Lunch · Market

Bruce’s Country Market

23963 Lougheed Highway

One of my favourites for breakfast or lunch, with prices I appreciate and plenty of good treats if dessert is calling. Part market, part meal stop, and a place I keep coming back to.

Greek food

Pyrgos Taverna

22570 Lougheed Highway

My usual choice for Greek food in town. The people are always so nice, and I’ve consistently enjoyed the food. An easy choice when that’s what I’m in the mood for.

Breakfast · Coffee

Big Feast Bistro

11920 227 Street

A favourite when I’m looking for a healthier breakfast and a great coffee to go with it.

Pizza · Drinks · Summer hangouts

The Patch Brewery

12745 Laity Street

One of my favourite places to be in the summer. Great pizza, a good selection of food and drinks, and I always seem to bump into friends. It’s as much about getting together as it is about what’s on the table.

COFFEE, SOMETHING SWEET & A LITTLE BREAK

Favourite coffee shops & bakeries

Good coffee, baked goods, and a few spots where a treat can turn into lunch.

Downtown · Coffee & baked goods

Gratia Bakery & Café

22225 Dewdney Trunk Road

A great spot for coffee and something from the bakery. It’s also a nice spot to settle in when I have a bit of work to get done.

Downtown · Coffee & baked goods

Projekt Blend

Unit 1, 22265 Dewdney Trunk Road

Another downtown favourite for a good coffee and baked goods. A lovely option when you’re in this part of Maple Ridge.

Albion · Coffee & baked goods

Kanaka Creek Coffee

101–24155 102 Avenue

A spot I recommend for anyone in the Albion neighbourhood. Good coffee and baked goods, close to home.

Bakery · Plenty to choose from

Hansel & Gretel Bakery

22777 Dewdney Trunk Road

A great bakery in town with a selection that never disappoints. If you’re in the mood for something from the bakery, there’s always plenty to choose from.

Donuts · Baked goods · Sandwiches

Picasso Bakery

11943 224 Street

Another good spot for a treat, especially the donuts. I like the variety of baked goods, and the sandwiches are great too. An easy choice whether you’re after something sweet or a bite for lunch.

Downtown · Focaccia & baked goods

AbracaShaba Focacceria

22346 Dewdney Trunk Road

Another spot I recommend right in downtown Maple Ridge. A good addition to the list when you’re exploring the bakeries around town.

Cookies · Online delivery & pickup

YVR Cookie

205–20120 Stewart Crescent

We can’t forget YVR Cookie. In my opinion, these are the best cookies around. A Maple Ridge favourite that deserves a spot on this list. Order online for delivery or local pickup. The bakery is not a storefront you can drop into, so arrange your order before heading over.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF LOCAL HANGOUT

Get outside

A bigger adventure or a quieter walk. It depends on what you’re looking for.

Dyke walks · River & mountain views

Jerry Sulina Park

13180 210 Street

We can’t leave Jerry Sulina off the list. A lovely place to get outside, with access to the dyke trails, views of the Alouette River and Golden Ears, and a designated area where dogs can run off leash.

My favourite adventure

Golden Ears Park

Golden Ears Parkway

My favourite when I want a proper adventure. Between Gold Creek, Alouette Lake and all the walking and hiking trails, there’s so much to explore. This is one of the places I return to time and time again.

A quieter change of pace

Allco Park

13255 Alouette Road

A great choice for a few trails and a quieter place to spend some time. It’s where I’d point you if you want something a little quieter than the busiest spots at Golden Ears.

Walks · Dyke exploring

Horseman’s Park

12790 224 Street

Another good starting point for getting outside. I like the access to the surrounding dyke network and all the room to walk and explore this side of Maple Ridge and towards Pitt Meadows.

Maple Ridge does a great job of bringing people together. These are a few I’ve enjoyed. Check the event links for current dates and details.

Haney Farmers Market

Usually at Memorial Peace Park · 11930 224 Street

The farmers market is always a good stop in my books. One of the local events I enjoy having right here in town.

Haney Block Party

Haney Builders’ Supplies · 22740 Dewdney Trunk Road

Good entertainment, great food trucks, and a chance to get together with friends. This is an event I always enjoy. My only problem is having more food trucks I want to try than room in my stomach.
